Ombudsman Investigates Serbian Health Authorities After Woman Dies Falling From Stretcher

Serbia's ombudsman has launched an investigation into the actions of several health authorities after a woman died subsequent to falling from an ambulance stretcher. The incident occurred during an emergency medical service intervention involving the Bačka Palanka Health Center.

The ombudsman's office stated that the inspection aims to establish all relevant facts and circumstances surrounding the case, as well as to identify any potential failures in the conduct of the responsible bodies. This includes the Ministry of Health, the Provincial Secretariat for Health, and the Bačka Palanka Health Center.

These institutions have been requested to provide detailed explanations and all pertinent documentation within seven days. The ombudsman will analyze the submitted information to determine if any procedural errors or negligence by the authorities or the health institution contributed to the violation of citizens' rights. If irregularities are found, appropriate legal measures will be taken.
