Ombudsman's Office Reopens in La Guaira to Aid Earthquake Victims

The Ombudsman's Office in Venezuela has reopened its state headquarters in La Guaira, restoring in-person services for citizens impacted by the earthquakes that struck on June 24, 2026. This move aims to provide crucial support and ensure the protection of human rights for affected communities.

Alongside the reopening of the main office, the Ombudsman's office has deployed a "Defensorial Brigade" to five temporary camps. These mobile units are actively receiving petitions and complaints, offering legal orientation, identifying human rights violations, and facilitating requests with relevant government bodies. This ensures that even those displaced by the disaster have access to essential services.

The La Guaira state office is located at local 7 on the ground floor of the El Pozo commercial center in the El Jabillo sector of Maiquetía. In addition to the local resources, a national toll-free line, 08000-PUEBLO (783256), is available from 8:30 am to 10:00 pm daily. The Defensorial Brigade for Emergencies will operate on specific dates in August (17, 19, 24, 26, and 31) at various locations, including the César Nieves Stadium, José María Vargas Sports Complex, República de Panamá Educational Complex, Narciso Gonell School, and Caraballeda Golf Club.
