‎Ondo Amotekun rescues two Fulani herders

Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as the Amotekun Corps, successfully rescued two young Fulani herders who had been abducted by suspected kidnappers. The incident occurred in a forest near the border between Ondo and Edo states, where the herders, identified as Abubakar Umaru and Abdullahi Umaru, were tending cattle.

According to the state Commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, the rescue operation was initiated after the victims' parents reported the herders missing. The Amotekun Corps quickly mobilized, first recovering the cattle and then pursuing the kidnappers deep into the forest. The search extended into an area known as Abuja Forest, situated between Ondo and Edo states.

The briefing today is unique, in the sense that out of the hundreds of rescued victims, we singled out this particular situation where two Fulani boys were kidnapped and their cattle rescued in Owo Local Government.

Adeleye explained that upon realizing security operatives had surrounded their hideout, the kidnappers fled, allowing the Amotekun Corps to safely rescue the two boys. He commended the local residents for providing crucial intelligence that aided the operation. The commander reiterated the agency's dedication to safeguarding all residents, regardless of their ethnic background.

"The Ondo State Security Network Agency does not discriminate. A criminal from Yoruba, from Igbo, from Hausa, or from Fulani is a criminal. We treat them as such," Adeleye stated. This rescue follows a previous operation in July 2026 where the Amotekun Corps arrested a man and his three sons for a separate kidnapping incident in the state.
