Ondo bye-election: Governor rallies support for APC candidate Faduyile

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on residents of the Ondo South Senatorial District to cast their votes for Dayo Faduyile, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the upcoming Saturday bye-election. The election is being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission to fill the vacancy left by Jimoh Ibrahim, who was recently appointed as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Prof. Faduyile possesses the requisite experience, intellect and leadership qualities needed to effectively articulate the interests of Ondo South at the National Assembly.

Speaking at the APC's final campaign rally in Okitipupa, Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by his deputy Dr. Olayide Adelami, appealed for peaceful conduct during the election. He described Prof. Faduyile, a former President of the Nigeria Medical Association, as the most qualified aspirant to represent the district in the Senate, possessing the necessary experience, intellect, and leadership qualities.

"This senatorial district has enjoyed robust representation under Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who as an intellectual of notable standing, so we must sustain that tradition by electing another candidate of proven competence," the governor stated. He emphasized that Ondo South cannot afford to lower its standards and that Prof. Faduyile has the capacity and pedigree to continue the legacy of quality representation.

The state APC Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Kolawole, urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilization, while the Campaign Committee Chairman, Pastor Femi Agagu, highlighted Faduyile's credentials and track record as attractive to voters. Governor Aiyedatiwa also expressed confidence in the APC's growing acceptance and reiterated the party's commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
