Ondo reviews 2026 budget upward by N245bn to N769bn

Ondo State has increased its 2026 budget by N244.974 billion, raising the total from N524.410 billion to N769.384 billion.

The state government said the increase followed a mid-year assessment of the appropriation law, which Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa signed in December 2025. The revised budget has been submitted to the House of Assembly for ratification.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget Olaolu Akindolire said the additional allocation would support roads, water, healthcare and other critical infrastructure. It includes funding for the Adegbola-St. Mathias flyover along Oba Adesida Road in Alagbaka, Akure.

The revised budget also makes additional funding provision for projects such as the Adegbola-St. Mathias flyover along Oba Adesida Road in Alagbaka, Akure.

Water projects are expected to receive development financing aimed at improving access to potable water, while the healthcare allocation will support service delivery and emerging needs. Akindolire said budget implementation reports for the first two quarters showed different performance levels among government ministries, departments and agencies, with some facing rising demands and others experiencing slower spending because of implementation challenges.

Information Commissioner Idowu Ajanaku said the administration would continue to prioritize infrastructure across the state.
