One Dead, Four Injured in Ulsan Paint Factory Fire

A fire at a paint factory in Ulsan, South Korea, has resulted in one fatality and four injuries, according to fire authorities.

The blaze erupted around 8:20 a.m. on the 3rd in the Samsan-dong area of Nam-gu district. A woman in her 60s died as a result of the fire. A man, also in his 60s, suffered severe injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Additionally, three other individuals sustained minor injuries, primarily from smoke inhalation, and were treated before being released. The fire also spread to a nearby residential building, forcing the evacuation of residents and causing significant disruption.

Firefighters responded promptly, initiating a level 1 response and deploying personnel and equipment to control the situation. The main flames were extinguished by approximately 8:58 a.m., marking the initial success of the containment efforts.

Authorities are currently working to fully extinguish any remaining embers and secure the site. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage is underway. The incident produced thick black smoke that blanketed the surrounding urban area.
