One Dead, Three Injured in Sword Attack at Swedish School; Teen Suspect Arrested

A fatal sword attack at a school in central Sweden has left one person dead and three others injured, with authorities apprehending an 18-year-old male suspect. The incident occurred Friday at Brinellskolan in Fagersta, a town of approximately 12,000 residents.

Our current assessment of the injuries is that there are three people injured and one deceased.

Police responded to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. local time, finding a deceased victim and three injured individuals. Two of the injured sustained serious wounds and were transported to a hospital, while one suffered minor injuries. The victims were identified as two minors, aged between 12 and 17, with the more severely injured undergoing emergency surgery but remaining in stable condition.

This attack occurred on the first day back for students following their summer vacation. They, along with students from nearby schools, were confined to their buildings for over three hours. Images from the scene showed a significant police and ambulance presence, including a police helicopter. The school, which has around 450 students, had previously been evacuated in May due to a threat. Local media is also reportedly investigating a now-deleted TikTok account that may have belonged to the attacker, who was described as wearing a helmet and wielding a sword.
