One killed, nine wounded in car accident involving minibus on Highway 98 in northern Israel

A serious car accident on Highway 98 in the Golan Heights on Sunday resulted in one fatality and nine injuries. The collision involved a minibus and a private car near the Afik Intersection.

Firefighters worked at a difficult and complex scene to rescue the trapped man using hydraulic equipment and transfer him to medical personnel.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics responded to the scene, where they treated the wounded. A 35-year-old man was declared dead at the scene due to his injuries. Nine other individuals sustained moderate to light injuries and were transported to a hospital for further treatment.

We performed medical examinations, but unfortunately his injuries were significant, and we had no choice but to declare him dead.

Firefighters worked to extricate individuals trapped in the vehicles. An Israel Fire and Rescue Authority commander described the scene as "difficult and complex." MDA paramedics noted their efforts to save the deceased victim, stating, "unfortunately his injuries were significant, and we had no choice but to declare him dead."

When we arrived at the scene, we noticed the jeep upside down in a ditch.

The accident in the North followed another severe incident on Wednesday in the West Bank, where a jeep overturned. A 17-year-old girl was critically injured in that crash, with two other females sustaining moderate injuries and seven more lightly wounded. The jeep overturned in a ditch during what was described as a field trip.

After we rescued her, we provided her with life-saving medical treatment that included anesthesia and ventilation and evacuated her by MDA-Rescue Air helicopter to the hospital in critical condition.
