One Left! Dongfa Hao 'Expeditioned' and Harassed, Signatures of Chiang Wan-an and Shen Po-yang Covered by White Paint

The signatures of Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an and legislator Shen Po-yang on the wall of the century-old Dongfa Hao stall in Raohe Night Market have been painted over with white paint. This action followed a wave of online criticism and negative reviews directed at the popular eatery.

Dongfa Hao had recently invited Shen Po-yang, a candidate for Taipei mayor from the Democratic Progressive Party, to sign its wall. In the process, they also revealed a signature from Mayor Chiang Wan-an, which had been covered by a menu for four years. This move apparently triggered a backlash from netizens, who accused the stall of favoritism and flooded its online platforms with one-star reviews, claiming the food was unpalatable.

The stall owner, reportedly overwhelmed by the "expedition" and unable to bear the constant harassment, decided to cover both signatures. The owner expressed a desire to return to a state of peace and normalcy, stating that they could not choose who to sell to based on political affiliation. Despite the controversy, the stall continued to attract a steady stream of customers, with many patrons seemingly unfazed by the painted-over signatures and continuing to enjoy the establishment's signature dishes like oil rice, noodles, and meat soup.
