One Nation asked to submit three years of missing financial statements

One Nation Queensland Division Inc has committed to submitting three years of overdue financial statements to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) by the August 18, 2026 deadline. This submission is crucial to avoid potential regulatory action, including an investigation and possible cancellation of the political party's incorporation.

The OFT had previously confirmed that the Queensland division had until mid-next month to file audited accounts for the financial years 2023, 2024, and 2025. A party spokesman stated that One Nation is complying with the OFT's requirements. However, the division had lodged its annual returns for these years, but they did not include the required audited financial statements.

Founded by Pauline Hanson in Queensland in 1997, One Nation has experienced a significant surge in opinion polls this year, positioning itself as a potential major force against established political parties. Despite this electoral momentum, the party faces increasing scrutiny, particularly concerning the delayed financial reporting of its Queensland division. Senator Hanson is listed as the president of this division, according to her register of interests.

If the division fails to provide the audited statements, the OFT has the authority to initiate an investigation. Negative findings could result in infringement notices, fines for committee members, or a show cause notice questioning why the association's incorporation should not be canceled. The party's spokesman did not provide reasons for the delay in filing the accounts on time.
