One of St Elizabeth most wanted cut down by cops

Anward Hinds, identified as one of Jamaica's most wanted individuals, was fatally shot during a confrontation with police in Westgate Hills, St. James, on Tuesday evening. Hinds, also known as 'Kirkie,' was a resident of multiple locations including Claremont, New Market in St. Elizabeth, Maroon Town, and George Reid in Manchester.

He was a primary suspect in a quadruple murder case that occurred in Ginger Hill, St. Elizabeth, in May 2015, which resulted in the deaths of four men. Hinds was also among eight inmates who escaped from the Black River Police Station on June 19, 2023, during a routine cell check.

Hinds is the third of these escapees to be killed in encounters with the police. Previously, Dean Simpson was killed by police in November 2023, and Oral Cole was fatally shot on April 2, 2026, in south Trelawny. Another escapee, Alrick Hutchinson, was discovered deceased in September 2023.

Authorities have successfully recaptured three other individuals who escaped: Richard Brown, Kenneth Stewart, and Demar Williams. The police continue their efforts to ensure public safety and apprehend any remaining fugitives.
