Online forms urged people to report presence of Israeli citizens, Italian Jews in tourist areas

Online forms that prompted users to report the presence of Israeli citizens and Italian Jews in Italian hotels and tourist accommodations have drawn severe condemnation. Walker Meghnagi, president of the Jewish Community of Milan, likened the practice to "hunting Jews" and a return to the 1930s.

The Google form, which has since been removed, stated its intention was to "record cases of Zionist tourism, property purchases, and, more generally, Zionist neo-colonization in Italy." It claimed the collected data would be confidential and used to "map the spread of the phenomenon and its various forms."

Subsequent pages of the form reportedly asked respondents to identify locations where Jewish or Israeli visitors were seen and whether local organizations were already "managing the phenomenon." The Jewish Community of Milan has forwarded the questionnaire to authorities but will not launch its own legal initiative.

The Global Sumud Movement, an organization known for coordinating flotillas to Gaza, denied any involvement with the forms, stating they did not commission or see the questionnaire before it was taken offline. Deputy Secretary of State Alessandro Morelli condemned the form as "abhorrent" and vowed that those responsible would not go unpunished, calling it a "deliberate campaign based on disinformation and propaganda" that aims to foster hatred and prejudice.
