Op Tiris Proves Effective, Seizures Reach RM260 Million - KPDN

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has reported remarkable success in its 'Op Tiris' initiative, a nationwide operation designed to combat the illicit diversion of controlled goods. The figures released by KPDN's Director of Enforcement, Datuk Azman Adam, reveal that the operation has yielded seizures valued at an impressive RM260 million since its inception in 2023.

This sustained effort has not only led to substantial seizures but has also resulted in a significant number of enforcement actions. A total of 6,773 cases have been recorded, leading to the apprehension of 2,219 individuals. Notably, the data indicates that a vast majority, nearly 80 percent, of those arrested are Malaysian citizens. This statistic underscores the domestic nature of the problem and highlights the KPDN's success in identifying and apprehending local perpetrators involved in these activities.

'Op Tiris' demonstrates KPDN's unwavering commitment to protecting consumers and ensuring fair market practices. By actively targeting and dismantling networks involved in the smuggling and hoarding of essential goods, the ministry is safeguarding the public from price manipulation and ensuring the availability of subsidized items.
