Operation Nexus: Authorities Raid Property in Itacurubí de la Cordillera

Hours after the arrest of an alleged former secretary to Sebastián Marset, Paraguayan authorities raided a property in Itacurubí de la Cordillera as part of Operation Nexus.

Prosecutor Ingrid Cubilla, from the Specialized Unit for Combating Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime, led Sunday’s search. The National Police’s specialized department for drug trafficking and related offenses supported the operation, which continues actions launched in February against a network allegedly linked to drug trafficking and organized crime.

The search aimed to seize items relevant to the case and locate people who face arrest warrants and have been declared fugitives. During the operation, the team gathered various items and indications for inclusion in the prosecutor’s case file and later analysis.

The raid followed the capture of Dionisio Manuel Cáceres Cabrera, 38, known as Manu. Anti-drug agents located and arrested him Sunday morning in the same Cordillera-area town. Authorities had been seeking him since Feb. 17, when the Nexus II phase began.

Prosecutors said the evidence collected could help clarify the suspected organization’s operating structure and identify other possible members of the criminal group.
