'Opposition is anti-Lord Ram': Kiren Rijiju attacks Congress, SP over Ram Temple donation row protest

Union parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday leveled strong accusations against the Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), and Communist Party of India (CPI), labeling them as "anti-Lord Ram." Rijiju, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament, asserted that the opposition has consistently shown animosity towards Lord Ram and the ongoing construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

His statements were made amidst continued protests by opposition parties in Parliament. These disruptions, which have repeatedly halted proceedings in the Lok Sabha, are focused on issues including an alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple and other matters. Rijiju claimed that the opposition had previously protested the temple's construction and is now repeating a similar stance.

He further criticized their actions, saying, "When the Ram Mandir was being built, they wore black bands to protest it. But the drama they have enacted here inside the Parliament complex has left us deeply saddened." The minister demanded a public apology from the opposition parties for what he described as an insult to Lord Ram.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav intensified his criticism of the BJP regarding the alleged donation theft, accusing the ruling party of protecting the perpetrators. The political tensions remain high as opposition MPs, led by Rahul Gandhi, continue their protests. In an effort to de-escalate the parliamentary deadlock, Rijiju later met with Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders to discuss the ongoing impasse.
