Opposition Slams Taoyuan Mayor for Admitting Slow City Development

Taoyuan mayoral candidate Huang Shih-chieh of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has criticized incumbent Mayor Chang San-cheng, accusing him of admitting to slow city development. Huang seized on Chang's recent statement, made during an event with KMT Chairman Johnny Chiang, where the mayor expressed regret that "the pace of Taoyuan's municipal development could have been faster."

Huang argued that Chang's admission, made three years into his term, suggests he acknowledges a period of stagnation and has disappointed citizens who supported him. "The real sadness belongs to the people of Taoyuan, not to Chang," Huang stated during a political event in Pingzhen District. He implied that Chang's words confirmed a failure to meet the expectations of the electorate.
