Su Chiao-hui: Zhonghe Residents Know Best the Importance of Choosing the Right Leader

New Taipei City mayoral candidate Su Chiao-hui stressed the importance of "choosing the right person" during a rally for incumbent councilor Chang Chia-ling on August 1. Su, a legislator from the Democratic Progressive Party, drew parallels to the past, recalling how former Taipei County Magistrate Su Tseng-chang significantly improved local flood control and oversaw the construction of Shuanghe Hospital.

Su articulated her vision for New Taipei City, a region encompassing mountains, coastlines, rural areas, and urban centers. She expressed a strong desire to leverage resources effectively, employing new concepts and city marketing to showcase the unique characteristics of all 29 districts to the world. Su also noted her long-standing acquaintance with Chang Chia-ling, dating back to their university days. She praised Chang's early involvement in public affairs and her subsequent experience as a national-level aide in the executive and legislative branches, which she believes has prepared her well for her current role as a councilor.

Additionally, Su attended a public welfare event for seniors organized by Councilor Chen Nai-yu. She reiterated her policy proposals, including a dental subsidy of up to NT$50,000 for elders, an increase in the elder card's points to 1,000 with expanded usage, and a subsidy of up to NT$240,000 for long-term care facilities. These policies aim to ensure seniors can live healthy lives and enjoy their time.

Chang Chia-ling has been actively involved in public affairs since her student days.

Focusing on Xindian, Su described it as a district rich in arts and cultural history. She pledged to upgrade hardware facilities at the Bitan Scenic Area and enhance cultural tours, aiming to deepen public understanding of the history of areas like the Shisizhang settlement and the Xindian River.
