Opta supercomputer predicts Arsenal to win 2026-2027 Premier League

The upcoming 2026-2027 Premier League season is set to kick off on August 21, and Opta's supercomputer has already made its predictions. The model forecasts Arsenal, the defending champions, as the favorites to lift the trophy for a second consecutive year, giving them a 38% chance of winning.

Manchester City is identified as Arsenal's closest competitor, with a 20.5% probability of winning the league under Enzo Maresca, Pep Guardiola's successor. Liverpool is predicted to finish third with a 9.2% chance, while Manchester United is expected to secure the fourth spot with 6.2% probability.

Beyond the title race, Opta's analysis also projects the contenders for Champions League qualification. Liverpool and Manchester United are favored to secure the remaining two spots with 48.6% and 40% probabilities, respectively. Other clubs like Aston Villa (33.8%), Chelsea (30.3%), Newcastle (26.2%), Tottenham (24.1%), and Brighton (21.5%) are expected to vie for European competition berths.

The supercomputer also forecasts the teams likely to be relegated to the Championship. Hull City is predicted to have the highest probability of relegation at 38.7%, followed by newly promoted Ipswich Town (31.2%) and Coventry City (27.9%). Opta's model generates these predictions by running 10,000 simulations based on historical and recent team data.
