ORE Indigenous Craft Fair returns to Espacio Cultural Staudt

The ORE Indigenous Craft Fair is set to return to the Espacio Cultural Staudt in Asunción this weekend, August 8th and 9th. This event, organized by the Paraguayan Crafts Institute (IPA), will bring together a diverse collection of traditional works from various indigenous communities across Paraguay. Attendees will have the opportunity to admire and purchase handcrafted items that showcase ancestral techniques passed down through generations. The fair aims to be more than just a marketplace; it serves as a cultural meeting point that promotes the recognition of living cultural heritage. The IPA emphasizes that the event strengthens the bond between artisans and the public, while also contributing to the preservation of traditional knowledge and the economic development of the participating communities. Visitors can expect to find a curated selection of pieces, including basketry, feather art, textiles made from caraguatá fiber and cotton, and wood carvings from palo santo. The fair will also feature complementary activities such as demonstrations and workshops, offering a deeper insight into the creative process, meaning, and value of each artisanal piece. The ORE Fair will be open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday, with free admission for all.
