Orion & Leon Crowned Champions of Ikorodu Division in Spires 5-Aside Tournament

The Ikorodu Division witnessed a spectacular display of football prowess as Orion and Leon Football Club emerged victorious in the Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament. In a dominant performance, they annihilated New Generation FC with a resounding 7-0 victory in the grand finale, securing their second consecutive divisional title.

The tournament, held at Deeonis football courts Ota-Ona, drew hundreds of enthusiastic fans, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The final match was a testament to Orion and Leon's skill and teamwork, leaving no doubt about their championship status. As champions, they were awarded a prize of N500,000, with New Generation FC taking home N300,000 as runners-up and Diamond Football Club securing N100,000 for third place.

Beyond the prize money, the victory holds greater significance as Orion and Leon, along with the second and third-place teams, will now represent the Ikorodu Division at the state-level tournament scheduled for October. Dr. Bankole Allibay, the initiator of the tournament, expressed his satisfaction with the successful execution in Ikorodu and pledged to elevate the standards in subsequent divisions. The Spires 5-Aside tournament is set to continue its journey, with the next leg scheduled for Epe on Saturday, May 2, 2026, promising more grassroots football excitement across the region.
