Oscar “El Cholo” Gómez Castañón departs Radio Rivadavia amid programming changes

Radio Rivadavia AM 630 has confirmed the departure of host Oscar “El Cholo” Gómez Castañón, marking the end of his program "Desde el alma." The station's owner, Alpha Media, is implementing a comprehensive adjustment plan that includes this and other programming changes.

The station's evening schedule has been reconfigured starting August 1st. "La oral deportiva," a long-standing sports program hosted by Daniel Avellaneda, will now air from 8 PM to 11 PM, moved up from its previous 10 PM to midnight slot. A new nightly news program, "Panorama al cierre del Rotativo del aire," hosted by Carlos Casal, will fill the 11 PM to midnight slot.

Gómez Castañón's exit signifies the end of his show, which had been on air since late March 2025 and previously aired from 8 PM to 10 PM. This decision is part of a broader series of layoffs and restructuring efforts by Alpha Media across various areas and stations over the past several months. The ongoing adjustments have generated significant concern among employees within the media group.

In related news, Radio Splendid AM 990, also part of Alpha Media, is undergoing its own programming adjustments following the departure of Rolando Graña. Pablo Marcovsky has taken over the first morning slot from 6 AM to 8 AM with "La mañana de Splendid," while Fernando Lavecchia now hosts from 8 AM to 11 AM with "Lavecchia Mañana." There is also consideration of broadcasting "Buenas tardes china," a former Radio Con Vos program, which could lead to further shifts in Marcovsky's role. Additionally, Radio Continental AM 590 has expanded its morning program "#PrimeraHora," hosted by Daniel López, to include agricultural coverage.
