Spanish activist makes Nazi salute outside Moroccan embassy in Madrid

A far-right Spanish activist, Isabel Peralta, ignited outrage by performing a Nazi salute outside the Moroccan embassy in Madrid. This incident marks the latest in a series of controversial actions by Peralta, who has a documented history of similar provocations and legal entanglements.

Peralta's latest act took place during a demonstration concerning the recent migration crisis in Ceuta and Melilla, where thousands of migrants arrived. This was not her first involvement in such protests; in 2021, she made inflammatory remarks at a similar rally, using slogans like "death to the invader" and "this is not immigration, it is an invasion." These statements later led to a conviction.

In May 2021, 20,000 immigrants stormed the Ceuta border. We simply demonstrated to say that this was an invasion, and the police decided to report, open files and investigations against several attendees and participants.

During Sunday's demonstration, Peralta addressed the crowd, referencing a recent court ruling on her appeal against the 2021 conviction. She defiantly declared to the judiciary and security forces, "you can prepare the next sentence, because we don't give a damn about this one." She then tore up the court document before making the Nazi salute to applause from her supporters.

Peralta's past includes a 2022 arrest at Frankfurt Airport for possessing Nazi paraphernalia, including a Nazi flag and a copy of Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf." German authorities expelled her and banned her from entering the country permanently. In Spain, she was previously sentenced to one year in prison, disqualified from voting, and fined for inciting discrimination and hatred.
