Osimhen, Onuachu Face New Rivals for Super Lig Golden Boot

The upcoming 2026/27 Turkish Super Lig season promises a fierce battle for the Golden Boot, with established stars Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu facing new challenges from high-profile arrivals.

Victor Osimhen, currently with Galatasaray, was the league's top scorer in the 2024/25 season, netting 26 goals and contributing five assists. Across all competitions that season, he amassed an impressive 37 goals and eight assists in 41 games. Although he was surpassed last term by compatriot Paul Onuachu and Uzbekistan's Eldor Shomurodov, Osimhen still managed 22 goals and eight assists in 33 games for Galatasaray, despite battling injuries. He aims to reclaim the title and make a mark in the Champions League this season.

Paul Onuachu and Eldor Shomurodov shared the Golden Boot last season, both scoring 22 goals. Onuachu's chances of scoring more might be boosted by the arrival of Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor, although Salah himself is a renowned goalscorer. Their combined efforts are expected to significantly bolster Trabzonspor's title aspirations.

Mohamed Salah joins Trabzonspor after a distinguished nine-year tenure at Liverpool, where he scored 257 goals and provided 123 assists in 442 appearances. His presence in the league immediately positions him as a strong contender for the Golden Boot. Additionally, Romelu Lukaku is reportedly on the verge of joining Fenerbahce, adding another formidable striker to the competition. Lukaku, arriving from Napoli, will be looking to rediscover his scoring form after a mixed two years in Italy and a strong World Cup performance.
