Osun Central: I remain PDP senatorial candidate, Adekunle tells Fadeyi

Dr. Ibraheem Adekunle has firmly stated his position as the duly nominated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial District, directly challenging claims made by Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi. Adekunle insists that any attempt to substitute his name for the 2027 general election will be met with legal action.

Adekunle raised significant questions regarding Fadeyi's political trajectory. He highlighted that Fadeyi reportedly obtained a waiver from the PDP on May 8, 2026, yet subsequently participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election on May 18, 2026, for the same office. Adekunle questioned the legality of this dual party affiliation, emphasizing that political party membership cannot simultaneously exist in two different parties.

Furthermore, Adekunle pointed out that by the time Fadeyi was involved in the APC primary, the PDP had already concluded its nomination process for the Osun Central Senatorial District. This included the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, the primary election itself, and the submission of the winner's name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Adekunle asserted that he was the sole aspirant in the PDP primary and that his nomination fully complied with the party's constitution and electoral laws. He confirmed that his name was officially submitted to INEC and uploaded to the commission's nomination portal, solidifying his status as the authentic PDP candidate.
