Osun Decides: I’ll block leakages, expand revenue – Oyebamiji

Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming August 15 Osun State election, has articulated his vision for the state's financial recovery and economic expansion. Oyebamiji, who previously served as the Commissioner for Finance, positions himself as a credible alternative to the current administration, citing concerns over the state's financial trajectory and the execution of infrastructure projects.

I am a credible alternative to the current administration in Osun State.

Highlighting a significant increase in the state's monthly allocation from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) – from approximately N2.6 billion under the previous APC administration to about N16 billion currently – Oyebamiji questioned the commensurate benefit to the state and its citizens. He also criticized what he described as the secrecy and incompetence surrounding some infrastructure projects awarded by the current administration, many of which he claims have failed.

Oyebamiji's campaign platform, termed the 'Prosperity Agenda,' is built on seven key pillars: Poverty Alleviation, Workers' Welfare, and Job Creation; Responsive, Accountable, and Transparent Governance; Opportunities for Economic Growth, Support for SMEs, and Youth and Women Empowerment; Security, Safety, and Social Protection; Productive Agriculture Through Public-Private Partnerships and Rural Development; Education, Skills Development, and Targeted Investment in Healthcare Delivery; and Renewed Investment in Infrastructure to Drive Inclusive Growth, Culture, and Tourism.

The last allocation received by the APC administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) stood at approximately N2.6 billion. Today, the average monthly allocation to the state is about ¦ 16 billion without commensurate values to the state and her citizens.

If elected, Oyebamiji pledged to undertake a comprehensive review of outstanding entitlements for active and retired workers within his first 100 days in office and commence immediate payments. He also committed to making the Dagbolu Dry Port fully operational and initiating training programs for at least 10,000 young people in information and communication technology through strategic partnerships. Furthermore, he plans to institutionalize monthly meetings of the State Security Council.
