Osun Election Allowances: Nigerian Correctional Service Assures Staff of Payment

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Osun State Command, has stated it is actively working to ensure that allowances due to its personnel for their duty during the Osun governorship election on Saturday, August 15, are paid.

This assurance comes in response to an inquiry from The PUNCH regarding delays in payment for personnel from various security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Correctional Service, who were deployed for the governorship poll. The PUNCH had previously reported protests from some security personnel over unpaid allowances.

I am directed to inform you that the Controller of Corrections, Osun State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, is working assiduously to ensure that the election duty allowances due to personnel are paid, including the allowances expected from both the Federal Government and the State Government.

Joel Oyedokun, the command’s Public Relations Officer, issued a statement explaining that the delay was due to the verification of details submitted by personnel deployed for the election. He assured affected personnel that their election allowances would be paid promptly.

Oyedokun further stated that the Controller of Corrections for the Osun State Command is diligently working to ensure all election duty allowances, including those expected from both the Federal Government and the State Government, are disbursed. The command expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of its personnel while the necessary payment processes are being finalized.
