Osun gov poll: Farmers, butchers back Adeleke, hunters endorse Oyebamiji

Farmers and butchers in Osun State have officially endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term, praising his administration's "farmers-friendly" policies. The endorsement ceremony, held at the Osun Government House in Osogbo, saw agricultural groups express appreciation for initiatives such as purchasing new tractors, completing a farmers' secretariat, and distributing seedlings.

We endorse Mr Governor for re-election because he did well for Osun farmers. We were neglected for years under APC. Governor Adeleke came and change our fortunes for the better.

Moshood Adepoju, speaking for the Osun State All Farmers of Nigeria (AFAN), stated that farmers have experienced unprecedented support under Adeleke, contrasting it with previous neglect under the APC. "We endorse Mr Governor for re-election because he did well for Osun farmers. We were neglected for years under APC. Governor Adeleke came and change our fortunes for the better," Adepoju said. He added that farmers faced arrests aimed at forcing them to oppose Adeleke but remained steadfast, vowing to vote massively for his re-election.

We were arrested but we insisted on standing by Mr Governor. Farmers will come out and vote massively for the governor’s second term.

The Osun State Chairman of the Butchers Association, Amoo Afeez, also pledged support, highlighting Adeleke's achievements across various sectors. Speaking in Yoruba, Afeez expressed confidence that "Osun people will show appreciation by re-electing our governor." The Commissioner for Agriculture, Tola Faseru, noted that the endorsement was a direct response to the governor's commitment to expanding opportunities in the agricultural sector.

In response, Governor Adeleke thanked the groups for their support and promised further development if re-elected. "I am happy that our deliveries in the agriculture sector is recognised by our dera farmers. This will encourage me to do more. We will get more machinery and farm inputs as well as processing factories in our second term," he stated. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service has declared support for the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
