Osun poll: Accord candidate to drag Fadahunsi before ICC, US, UK

Accord Party candidate Ladi Adebayo has announced his intention to pursue legal action against Senator Francis Fadahunsi, citing alleged threats made ahead of the Osun governorship election. Adebayo plans to escalate the matter to international bodies, including the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice.

My deeper concern lies in the Senator’s dangerous “dog whistle.” During his address, he explicitly referenced the burning of my father’s house in Ilesa in 1983, which occurred after my father defected from the UPN to the NPN. By making this historical allusion, he clearly suggested that I am destined for a similar fate. I hereby place the public on notice: should any harm or damage come to my properties or person, Senator Fadahunsi must be held directly and fully accountable.

Adebayo stated that Fadahunsi's remarks at a rally, which referenced the 1983 burning of his father's house following a political defection, constitute a dangerous "dog whistle." Adebayo interprets this historical allusion as an implicit threat, suggesting he is destined for a similar violent outcome. He has publicly warned that Senator Fadahunsi will be held accountable should any harm befall him or his properties.

In addition to pursuing legal action domestically and internationally, Adebayo intends to notify several influential foreign bodies. These include the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and the United Kingdom Parliament. Adebayo expressed his concern over the erosion of the rule of law in Nigeria and aims to alert the international community.

This development follows recent criticism directed at Senator Fadahunsi over a separate video where he allegedly made inflammatory remarks towards supporters of the All Progressives Congress. Adebayo's move underscores the heightened political tensions in the run-up to the Osun governorship election.
