Osun poll: APGA candidate steps down, backs Oyebamiji

In a significant shift ahead of the August 15 governorship poll in Osun State, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, the candidate for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has stepped down and pledged his support for Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

I am here today to declare publicly to the good people of Osun State our allegiance, support, and collaboration as we join His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The APGA candidate announced his withdrawal during an APC Campaign Council event in Osogbo. Adeyemi-Doro explained that his decision was the result of extensive consultations with APGA executives and members across the state, leading to an "alignment" with the APC.

"I am here today to declare publicly to the good people of Osun State our allegiance, support, and collaboration as we join His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, and the All Progressives Congress, APC," Adeyemi-Doro stated. He added that after observing the candidates, he and his party leadership concluded that "at the end of the day, we are all progressives."

I have been watching the candidates closely, and after wide consultations with my state chairman, secretary, and other senior members of the party, we have reached an alignment. At the end of the day, we are all progressives.

Responding to the endorsement, Oyebamiji thanked Adeyemi-Doro and expressed his commitment to working together to "rescue Osun State from the current bad government." He also indicated his intention to reach out to other political parties participating in the governorship race to garner further support for his campaign. The APC candidate assured Adeyemi-Doro's supporters that they would be taken care of.
