Osun poll: Avoid bloodshed, APC chieftain urges voters

Dotun Babayemi, the Director-General of the Osun West Governorship Campaign Council for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has appealed to residents of Osun State to engage peacefully in the upcoming August 15 governorship election. Babayemi urged voters and stakeholders to prevent bloodshed and the destruction of lives and property, stressing that the election is an opportunity to choose a new governor through peaceful votes.

"The task before all of us is to choose a new governor and this we can do peacefully through our votes without maiming, killings or destroying property," Babayemi stated in a release from his media office. He underscored the importance of maintaining unity, noting that regardless of political differences, all residents are part of the same family bound by their shared heritage in Osun State. He added that elections are transient, but the state endures, warning that the cost of post-election damages could be immense and avoidable if the poll is not treated as a do-or-die affair.

Babayemi expressed confidence in the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Oyebamiji, assuring that he is prepared to implement people-centered programs aimed at advancing the state. He believes that with substantial support from the populace, the APC candidate will emerge victorious, benefiting the entire state. The APC is committed to contesting all elective positions in the 2027 general elections nationwide.

In related campaign efforts, a three-day medical outreach, organized by Babayemi, concluded on Saturday in Gbongan. The "Omooba Dotun Babayemi-AMBO Medical Outreach" provided free medical services, including blood pressure and sugar checks, consultations, medications, and eye care, to approximately 10,000 individuals across Orile-Owu, Tonkere, and Gbongan. Babayemi emphasized that healthcare should not be a luxury, expressing concern over the neglected state of primary healthcare centers and the suffering of the people.
