Osun poll: Davido alleges plot to arrest Accord members, urges vigilance

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, has raised concerns over an alleged plot to arrest members of the Accord Party before Saturday's governorship election in Osun State. Davido shared his alarm on his official X account on Thursday, urging party members and supporters to remain vigilant and safe.

Davido claimed that the Accord Party, which is fielding his uncle and incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election, is on course for victory. "Accord members, stay safe! Just got intel, the next few hours they want to start arresting our people for nothing! The plan cannot work! Stay safe! Mount your guard! We are coasting to victory," Davido wrote.

His allegations surface amidst heightened security concerns and political tension in Osun State leading up to the election. Reports of violence and intimidation involving political supporters have emerged, and rival parties have exchanged accusations regarding the tense political atmosphere. Governor Adeleke has also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of using federal institutions to intimidate his supporters.

The All Progressives Congress has denied these accusations, refuting claims that they plan to use federal power to influence the election's outcome. As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from the police or other security agencies regarding Davido's allegations.
