#OsunDecides: Adeleke Leads Early Vote Count

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has taken an early lead in the ongoing collation of results for the Osun State governorship election. As of the latest reports, Adeleke has secured 177,572 votes, representing 50.5 percent of the ballots counted so far.

His main opponent, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently in second place with 158,588 votes, accounting for 45.1 percent. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress follows with 5,917 votes. The collation process is continuing across the state's 30 local government areas.

The election has recorded a voter turnout of 42.8 percent, with 361,500 out of 845,100 registered voters accredited. A total of 351,500 valid votes have been cast, alongside 7,200 rejected ballots. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported that results from 43.41 percent of polling units have been submitted.

Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, previously switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party. The election features 14 cleared political parties, following the disqualification of candidates from the PDP and the Labour Party. Official results are expected to be declared by the INEC Returning Officer upon completion of the collation.
