Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, has asserted that his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, is leading in the ongoing governorship election. Davido made these claims across social media platforms as vote counts were being processed throughout the state.

Davido specifically pointed to the ward of former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande, stating it was lost by the All Progressives Congress (APC). He urged Osun residents to remain vigilant, alleging potential schemes by former Governor Gboyega Oyetola. "Shame APC. Osun no be Edo!" he declared on social media, referencing a previous election outcome.

The singer, who has actively campaigned for Governor Adeleke, expressed strong confidence in his uncle's victory. He also called for security agencies to maintain their presence at electoral locations, emphasizing the need to protect the integrity of the vote.

Meanwhile, officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have begun sorting and counting votes at polling units. As of Saturday evening, results from a significant number of polling units had been uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing Portal. The main candidates, including Adeleke, Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress, had previously expressed confidence in their chances as the collation stage commenced.
