#OsunDecides2026: High voter turnout recorded at Aregbesola’s polling unit

Voters turned out in impressive numbers at Ifofin Unit 001, Ward 8, in Ilesa East Local Government Area, Osun State, on Saturday, for the governorship poll. This polling unit is significant as it is where Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is registered to vote.

Residents in the area expressed satisfaction with the high turnout. "We are many in the area. You can see from the large turnout here," commented one voter, Adeniyi Taye. The area hosts three polling booths situated close to each other. Voting began in all three, with the exception of Ward 8, Unit 10, which faced a delay.

Presiding Officer Elizabeth Adaramaja initially informed journalists that voting was delayed because chairs and tables had not been provided for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad hoc staff. However, Samson Grace, an agent for the ADC party, clarified that the issue had been resolved and voting was underway. "The issue has been resolved. Voting is going on now. We had a little delay, but we have resolved the situation," Grace stated.

Despite the high voter activity and the resolution of the logistical hiccup, Rauf Aregbesola had not yet cast his vote by 11:15 am, when the correspondent departed the area.
