#OsunDecides2026: INEC officials, voters flee as violence erupts in Ejigbo LGA

The governorship election in Nigeria's Osun State was disrupted by violence in Ejigbo Local Government Area. Chaos erupted at a polling unit following the discovery of materials reportedly linked to vote-buying by the All Progressive Congress (APC).

According to reports, some young residents seized the materials, which they claimed were intended for illegal activities. The situation quickly escalated when individuals allegedly associated with the APC arrived at the scene, reportedly attempting to apprehend the youth. This confrontation fueled tension at the polling unit.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and voters present at the unit fled for safety as the situation deteriorated. Video footage showed people running in various directions, with motorcycles and vehicles moving through the area as residents sought to escape the unrest. No casualties have been reported thus far. Earlier, some voters had raised concerns about alleged vote-buying incidents involving a political party.
