Otti promises people-oriented policies, responsible management of public resources

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has reaffirmed his commitment to people-centered governance and prudent fiscal management, aiming to sustain the state's growth and prosperity. Speaking at the closing of activities marking his administration's third anniversary, Otti emphasized his dedication to delivering sustainable development and enhancing the welfare of Abia residents.

The governor reported significant progress in financial management, stating that his government has successfully reduced the state's debt profile by over 70 percent through disciplined financial practices and accountability. This fiscal discipline has enabled substantial infrastructure development, with 414 road projects covering more than 800 kilometers completed. An additional 82 roads, spanning over 200 kilometers, are nearing completion and will soon be commissioned.

Key infrastructure projects highlighted include the Port Harcourt Road in Aba, the six-lane Ossah Road, the Omenuko Bridge, and the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Ohafia Road. In the healthcare sector, Otti assured that projects at the Abia State Teaching Hospital and Amachara General Hospital would be finalized to expand tertiary care capacity. He noted the recruitment of close to 1,000 healthcare professionals across the state.

Furthermore, Otti detailed investments in education and youth empowerment, particularly through technology-focused training in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. The state has allocated over 300 million naira to support technology-based enterprises and innovation. The governor also reiterated his administration's commitment to timely payment of salaries and pensions, alongside improved security across the state.
