Ou Hansheng Returns to Hosting After 9 Years, Joins CTV's 10 PM Slot, Faces Competition with Dee Hsu

After a nine-year hiatus from hosting a regular program, Taiwanese entertainer Ou Hansheng, also known as "Bro Show," is set to return to the prime-time slot with a new variety show on CTV.

I'm very excited. It's been 8 or 9 years since I hosted my own show, so I've always wanted a daily program. I'm very grateful to CTV for giving me this opportunity.

The program, titled "Ou Ye Yi Ji Bang," will feature Ou Hansheng in the lead role, accompanied by popular model Lin Hsiang and comedian Chang Li-tung. Ou Hansheng shared his enthusiasm for the opportunity, noting it has been nearly a decade since he last hosted a daily show. He expressed gratitude to CTV for the chance to prove his skills in managing program flow, a role he previously played as a supporting cast member.

Ou Hansheng acknowledged the competitive landscape of the 10 p.m. time slot, which features established hosts like Dee Hsu and Ken Chu. However, he adopted a positive outlook, viewing their shows not as direct competition but as a collective effort to attract audiences back to traditional television. He admitted to feeling pressure but emphasized his fan status for the competing shows.

We can't say we are rivals, but rather we are working together to bring viewers back to the television to watch shows properly.

Reflecting on his co-hosts, Ou Hansheng praised Chang Li-tung as a promising new talent he has watched since his debut on "Super Model." He also lauded Lin Hsiang, comparing her youthful energy and dedication to a young Jolin Tsai. Ou Hansheng encouraged Lin Hsiang to continue her growth, even suggesting she learn a Japanese phrase daily in hopes of seeing her shine internationally.

Chang Li-tung expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to co-host with Ou Hansheng, whom he considers a mentor. He admitted to feeling significant pressure but was excited about the potential of the new show becoming a career highlight. Lin Hsiang shared that she and Ou Hansheng bonded quickly, finding him easy to talk to and encouraging. She has been studying past variety shows to prepare for her role.

I debuted on Brother Ou's show. He watched me go from a nobody to an entertainer, and now he's watching me go from an entertainer to a host. Hosting a show with him is like a master testing you, so it's impossible to say there's no pressure; the pressure is quite significant.
