Outgoing Rotary president urges sustained community service

Nelly Williams, the outgoing President of the Rotary Club of Abuja, The Ambassadors, has called on members to remain dedicated to community service as she officially handed over leadership to Prince Herberts. Williams described her year-long tenure as one characterized by purpose, service, and impact, during which the club implemented projects aimed at improving lives and strengthening partnerships under the Rotary theme "Unite for Good."

It has been a year of purpose, service and impact. Together, we touched lives, strengthened partnerships and reinforced Rotary’s commitment to making a difference.

Williams stated that Rotary serves as a global network of volunteers committed to "Service Above Self" through interventions in areas such as education, healthcare, peacebuilding, environmental protection, and economic empowerment. She emphasized that the club's most significant achievements were not measured solely by the number of projects completed, but by the lives impacted, hope restored, and relationships forged.

Expressing full confidence in her successor, Williams urged members to continue their active participation, teamwork, and selfless service. Prince Herberts, the incoming President, announced that his administration would focus on the theme "Create Lasting Impact." He pledged to leverage the successes of the previous administration and expand the club's humanitarian endeavors.

Lizzy Asomugha, Assistant Governor of Rotary, congratulated Williams on her successful tenure and voiced confidence in Herberts' ability to sustain the club's achievements and advance Rotary's humanitarian mission. Family members, including Williams' sister Damka Brown and son Williams Ngalaba, also praised her inspiring and impactful leadership.
