Over 10,000 Euros Stolen from Vilnius Garage; Man Detained, Minor Summoned

In Vilnius, a brazen theft occurred on August 28th when unknown individuals targeted a garage on A. Kavoliuko Street. The perpetrators managed to steal the keys to the garage, subsequently entering and making off with 10,000 euros in cash, a Nokia phone, and various bank and personal identification cards. The total loss is estimated at 10,140 euros.

Following the incident, law enforcement apprehended a suspect, born in 1959, who has been placed in a detention center. Additionally, a summons was issued to a minor, born in 2011, in connection with the case. The police have launched a pre-trial investigation into the incident, classifying it as robbery under Article 180, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania.

The law stipulates that individuals who commit robbery by breaking into premises, using a non-lethal weapon or an object capable of causing injury, or by stealing property of significant value, face imprisonment ranging from two to eight years. This case highlights the ongoing challenges with property crime in the capital.
