Over 137,000 Children Enrolled in First Grade in Kyrgyzstan Schools

Schools across Kyrgyzstan have successfully enrolled over 137,000 children into the first grade for the 2026/2027 academic year, according to data from the 1mektep.edu.gov.kg portal. This figure represents a significant portion of the total enrollment quotas available nationwide.

The capital city, Bishkek, has seen the highest number of registrations, with over 25,000 children signed up. Approximately 13,400 spots are filled in classes taught in the Kyrgyz language, while 11,800 are in Russian-language classes. The city still has about 1,200 available spots for first-graders.

Nationally, the total number of enrollment quotas for the upcoming academic year stands at 193,300, leaving over 55,000 spots unfilled. The electronic enrollment system opened on April 1. Initially, registration was based on micro-districts, but parents can now register in schools with available places regardless of their residence.

Parents of enrolled children are required to submit original medical certificates detailing their child's health status and vaccination records to the school between August 4 and September 5. The new academic year is scheduled to commence on September 15.
