Over 200 Young Athletes to Participate in Second Wamufat Sports Camp in Ogun State

Ogun State, Nigeria, is set to host the second edition of the Wamufat Sports Camp Run Ogun, commencing today and running until August 8, 2026. The event, organized by the Wamufat Youth Community Development Foundation (WYCDF) in partnership with the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), the United States-based Run Your City (RYC), and Agroterra Resort, aims to empower young athletes.

Over 200 children aged 10 to 16 will participate in the six-day camp held in Jega Orile, Abeokuta. They will receive free coaching across a range of sports, including Athletics, Football, Chess, Netball, golf, Ayo, and Tennis. Beyond athletic training, the camp emphasizes character development through a daily curriculum instilling values such as Gratitude, Respect, Excellence, Teamwork, Resilience, and Integrity.

Guided by experienced coaches and mentors, participants will focus on learning discipline and self-belief throughout the week. The camp culminates in a community Race Day on Saturday, August 8, providing a platform for the young athletes to showcase their progress. This initiative builds upon the success of the first camp in August 2025, which attracted over 450 children.
