Over 26,000 packs of contraband cigarettes seized in Lithuania

Lithuanian police have seized a substantial cache of contraband cigarettes, uncovering more than 26,000 packs hidden at a company warehouse and in associated vehicles. The operation in the Trakai district began after authorities received a tip regarding suspicious pallets stored at the warehouse.

Upon investigating the tip, officers initially discovered approximately 20,000 packs of illegal cigarettes within the warehouse premises. A subsequent search of vehicles linked to the company revealed an additional 6,000 packs, bringing the total seizure to over 26,000 packs. The value and intended destination of the contraband are now under investigation.

This seizure highlights ongoing efforts by Lithuanian law enforcement to combat illegal tobacco smuggling. The Trakai district has been a focus area for such operations, indicating a persistent problem with illicit trade in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify all individuals involved in the smuggling operation.
