Over 30,000 still without power in Lithuania; thousands of electricians working

Tens of thousands of Lithuanian households are still grappling with power outages as restoration efforts continue following a severe storm. As of Saturday, "Energijos skirstymo operatorius" (ESO) reported that electricity has been restored to 87% of affected consumers, but approximately 34,000 homes remain disconnected from the centralized supply.

To tackle the widespread issue, over 1,000 electricians and engineers have been deployed across the country. The most intensive operations are focused on the regions hit hardest by the storm, including the municipalities of Anykščiai and Kazlų Rūda, as well as the Utena region. These teams are working tirelessly to reconnect homes and businesses.

In Marijampolė and its surrounding district, the number of personnel working on power restoration has increased compared to the previous day. Authorities anticipate that these repair efforts will extend into the late hours of the night to bring electricity back to all affected areas. The scale of the damage underscores the storm's significant impact on the country's energy infrastructure.
