Over 40,000 Filipinos to gather at DWTC for Independence Day celebration

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) will host a massive celebration for the 128th anniversary of the Republic of the Philippines' independence this Sunday, June 7. An estimated 40,000 Filipinos are expected to attend the event, which will span Halls 1 and 2 of the DWTC.

Organized by the Emirates Loves Philippines platform, the festival aims to celebrate the rich tapestry of Filipino culture and strengthen the sense of community among Filipinos residing in the UAE. It also serves to acknowledge and showcase the significant contributions the Filipino community has made to the development of the United Arab Emirates over the years.

Attendees can anticipate a vibrant lineup of artistic and cultural performances, including appearances by Filipino actress and singer Arci Muñoz, and P-pop groups such as 1st.One, G22, and ALAMAT. Traditional Filipino cultural practices will be brought to life through the Sagala pageant and a parade of traditional costumes. A dedicated food village will offer popular Filipino dishes and beverages, complementing entertainment zones, go-kart racing, competitions, and live shows for families.

The celebration will be graced by the presence of distinguished officials from both nations. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Alfonso Ferdinand A. Ver, the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, are among the dignitaries expected. Representatives from Philippine business councils and educational institutions across the UAE will also be in attendance. This event underscores the continuously growing relationship between the UAE and the Philippines, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across economic, cultural, and social domains.
