Over 80,000 Expected at Malaysia's National Day Celebration in Putrajaya

Putrajaya is gearing up for a massive turnout at its 69th National Day celebration, with authorities expecting over 80,000 attendees at Dataran Putrajaya.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil anticipates crowd numbers to match or surpass previous years. He highlighted the improved public transportation options, including 24-hour MRT services and water taxis, designed to make access easier for the public. "Prasarana is providing 24-hour MRT transport, so more people will want to come because it is easier to attend," he said.

The celebration coincides with school holidays, potentially boosting visitor numbers. Hotels and accommodations in the Putrajaya area are reportedly fully booked.

In response to current haze conditions, the minister advised parents with young children and individuals with respiratory issues to wear face masks, particularly N95 types. The Ministry of Health has also recommended this precaution for at-risk groups. While over 10,000 masks will be distributed, their use remains optional.
