Owner of Illegal Sports Stream Site Selçuksports Detained

Authorities have arrested Selçuk Yılmaz, the alleged owner of Selçuksports, a website notorious for illegally streaming paid sports channels without charge. The operation, conducted as part of ongoing efforts against cybercrime, targeted the unauthorized broadcast of content that requires a subscription.

An investigation coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Cybercrime Branch Directorate, and the MIT Regional Directorate revealed that the Selçuksports website not only offered free streams of Turkish Süper Lig matches but also promoted illegal betting platforms. This activity violates Law No. 7258 on the Prevention of Crimes Committed Through Broadcasting, specifically Article 5/ç.

Following investigations, Selçuk Yılmaz was identified as the operator of the site and was apprehended in Pamukkale, Denizli. He is currently being transferred to Istanbul, where the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office will handle the subsequent legal procedures. The Ministry of Interior has announced the development to the public.
