Oyo Abduction: Woman begs Makinde to rescue kidnapped daughter-in-law, grandchildren

A harrowing plea for help echoed through Oyo State as a distraught woman publicly begged Governor Seyi Makinde to intensify efforts to rescue her daughter-in-law and four grandchildren. The family members are among numerous victims abducted in the Oriire Local Government Area.

Please have mercy on us. My daughter-in-law and four grandchildren are among the kidnapped victims. My daughter-in-law is the woman carrying a baby on her back, who spoke in a viral video. She is a teacher.

The woman made the emotional appeal during the governor's visit to the affected community, her voice trembling as she identified her daughter-in-law, a teacher, from a viral video of the incident. "Please have mercy on us," she implored, highlighting the deep personal anguish of the families caught in the escalating crisis.

Armed men invaded schools and surrounding communities in the Esiele and Yawota areas, abducting teachers, pupils, and residents. The renewed appeal underscores the growing concern among families who are desperately calling on government and security agencies to expedite rescue operations. The husband of one of the kidnapped principals also shared his distress, noting his wife's appearance in videos used by the abductors and urging the governor to remain committed to their safe return.

While the Oyo State Government and security agencies have not released specific details on the ongoing rescue efforts, they have assured that operations are underway to locate the abductors and secure the release of all captives.
