Oyo lawmaker unveils over N280m learning hubs, targets nine LGs

Remi Oseni, a lawmaker representing the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in Oyo State, has initiated a significant educational program aimed at equipping young people with future-ready skills. The Remi Oseni Smart Learning Intervention Legacy Programme, with an investment exceeding N280 million, seeks to bridge the digital divide by establishing smart learning hubs across nine local government areas within the constituency.

During the program's flag-off in Agbadagudu, Ibadan, Oseni emphasized that the initiative is designed to prepare students for the future, moving beyond traditional political engagement. The learning hubs will provide comprehensive training in cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, robotics, coding, digital marketing, and data analysis, complemented by mentorship opportunities. Oseni, who is also the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 elections, articulated his vision for an Oyo South where all students have access to world-class digital learning resources.

My vision is simple: an Oyo South where every student has access to world-class digital learning opportunities regardless of background.

The program's scope extends beyond technological training to include crucial support for students' academic and entrepreneurial pursuits. It encompasses free registrations for WAEC and NECO examinations, sponsorships for JAMB, provision of bursaries and scholarships, and support for young entrepreneurs. Oseni appealed for community support, framing his candidacy around a consistent investment in youth and student development.

Project Director Demilade Akin-Alabi confirmed that one Smart Learning Hub will be established in each of the nine LGAs. Five hubs are already completed in Eruwa, Agbadagbudu, Ido, Oke-Ado, and Oja-Igbo in Ibadan North East, with the remaining four under construction. Project Manager Oluwafemi Odeyemi noted that the program's implementation will align with the school calendar, including a three-day 'train the trainers' session. Each hub is designed to be solar-powered and off-grid, ensuring uninterrupted access to educational resources for homework, research, and digital literacy learning.
