Pacific Sexual and Gender Diversity Network plans stronger funding role

The Pacific Sexual and Gender Diversity Network (PSGDN) is planning to strengthen its capacity to operate as a regional grant-making and financial intermediary. This strategic initiative aims to play a more significant role in directing funding towards organizations and community-led initiatives across the Pacific region.

This move is a key component of PSGDN’s Strategic Plan for 2025 to 2030, which is designed to bolster the network’s long-term sustainability and overall impact. PSGDN Chair Dr. Jason Mitchell stated that this evolution would enable the organization to better connect national organizations and community-led initiatives with necessary resources and opportunities.

The network acknowledges the need for robust financial management, risk management, and accountability systems to ensure that funds are managed responsibly. "The plan also sets out an important evolution, with strengthening PSGDN’s capacity to serve as a regional grant-making and financial intermediary. This will require a robust governance, financial management, risk management, and accountability systems, so that resources can reach our national member organisations and community-led initiatives effectively and with integrity," said Mitchell.

PSGDN Interim CEO Loata Tuci highlighted that the strategy also emphasizes strengthening Pacific leadership and creating avenues for young and emerging leaders. The organization is committed to ensuring that resources reach the communities most in need while simultaneously fostering stronger connections throughout the region. PSGDN views this strategy as a significant shift in how it intends to support its members, aiming to establish mechanisms that improve access to resources for national organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders. The network believes this strategy will guide its efforts toward building a more robust, interconnected, and Pacific-led movement over the next five years.
