Palanga Unveils Luxurious New Public Toilet, Dubbed 'More Than a Toilet'

Palanga, Lithuania, has opened a new public toilet that is drawing significant attention for its unexpected luxury and modern design. Located on Meilės alėja near the Jūros Bridge, the free facility has been lauded by residents and visitors alike for its exceptional cleanliness and high-end amenities.

One visitor from Šiauliai described the new toilet as "Super, not everyone has this at home," while another man joked that it was so clean he "didn't even want to pee or poop." The facility has been awarded a five-star rating by those who have experienced it.

Palanga Mayor Šarūnas Vaitkus celebrated the new structure, calling it "more than a public toilet" and one of the most modern sanitary buildings in Lithuania. He shared before-and-after photos on Facebook, showing the previous dilapidated state of the old toilet compared to the newly reconstructed one. The new building boasts 34 usage points for men and women, a dedicated room for mothers and children, and an accessible restroom equipped with an emergency call system.

Further enhancing the facility's functionality, the building includes an automatic water softener to protect its engineering systems from limescale buildup. Continuous monitoring will also be in place to promptly address any potential malfunctions. Palanga currently operates 43 public toilets and water stations across the resort and its beaches. The municipality plans to install twelve new pavilions with toilets and showers on the beaches by the start of summer and is preparing technical designs to renovate six more existing public toilets.
